What does a dermal filler treatment feel like, and how long does it take?
The doctor will use a topical anesthetic for your comfort. Regarding level of pain, dermal filler injections have been likened to bee stings.
Depending on the number of sites injected with filler, a treatment can last up to 1-1/2 hours. Your face may be red or swollen after these injections, so dermal filler treatment shouldn't be undertaken during a week when you have an important meeting or social event.
Are there any side effects?
Juvéderm™ and similar dermal fillers are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Side effects are usually mild to moderate, lasting 7 days or less and include temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. It's advisable to avoid dermal filler treatments immediately before an important social event or meeting.
NOTE: To maintain the results, simply continue receiving dermal filler treatments within the timeframe recommended by Harbour Cosmetic Medicine.
